20. Every Day

***Every day a different body. Every day a different life. Every day in love with the same girl.

There’s never any warning about where it will be or who it will be. A has made peace with that, even established guidelines by which to live: Never get too attached. Avoid being noticed. Do not interfere.

It’s all fine until the morning that A wakes up in the body of Justin and meets Justin’s girlfriend, Rhiannon. From that moment, the rules by which A has been living no longer apply. Because finally A has found someone he wants to be with—day in, day out, day after day.***

I know I'll always be a David Levithan fan. He writes the most unique books. Ever.
This one is about a gender-less being, A, who wakes up every single day to a different body. S/he's been okay with it until one day, s/he woke up to be a HE who is in a relationship with a very beautiful girl, Rhiannon. A felt something the moment he saw Rhiannon. Magic. From then on, A's been breaking the rules on which he has been living on for his entire life.
The ending of this book is really heartbreaking. I feel so sorry for A.

I think... you'll really know once you've found your significant other, your other half. I don't know. Maybe there'll be invisible fireworks or flying hearts or whatever but I guess, you'll really know. And the harsh reality is, just because you think you've found your other half doesn't necessarily mean you are her/his other half too and you have no choice but to give up and understand that things just aren't meant to be, that you have to live life like you're not hurting, like everything's fine when the truth is, you're dying inside.

Wherever you are now A, I hope you're okay. I hope you won't get into my body, or have you already? Please email me. Hahaha.

Love,
M x
